Welcome back to our travel blog! Today, we’re sharing our first-hand experience flying Delta One Suites from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam. Let’s embark on this luxurious journey.
The Suite Life
Upon boarding, we were greeted by the Delta One Suite’s exceptional features. The suite’s design offered a good bit of privacy, a stark difference from typical business class seats. The suite’s 24-inch wide seat and ample space for stretching out made for a comfortable experience. The seat’s ability to transform into a lay-flat bed was a game-changer, especially for a long-haul flight. Conor managed to sleep soundly for the majority of the flight, thanks to this feature. Unfortunately, Brian found it challenging to catch some Z’s – but that’s often the way with overnight flights! Our only real critique pertains to the bottom footwell in the lay-flat position. It felt unexpectedly snug, almost reminiscent of being in an MRI machine. This minor issue aside, the overall comfort and space of the suite were beyond our typical flying experiences.
Luxury Amenities
The amenities in the Delta One Suite truly stood out. Plush yet firm pillows, along with a substantial yet appropriately warm duvet, were provided. This high-quality bedding, co-branded from Westin’s Heavenly line, felt like sleeping in a hotel. In addition, the amenity kit enhanced the luxury feel, with an eye mask, toothbrush kit, lip balm, and other goodies.
Culinary Delights
Dining in the Delta One Suite was an experience in itself. The meal service began with a variety of entrée options to choose from. Each meal was seasoned to perfection and generously portioned. The presentation was impeccable, turning each meal into a miniature culinary event. Conor’s choice of trout stew for dinner was a delicious—rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. The cheesecake for dessert was a sweet end to the evening meal. Breakfast brought another round of delights, with a scrumptious quiche that was light yet satisfying. The dining experience was akin to a fine restaurant, miles above the ground.
Entertainment and Relaxation
Entertainment was another high point. Each suite was equipped with an 18-inch TV screen, offering a vast selection of movies and TV shows that felt almost tailor-made for our tastes. While the headphones provided were adequate, they did fall short in comfort and noise cancellation compared to other airlines’ offerings.
Service and Overall Experience
Throughout the flight, the service was warm and accommodating, though not quite at the level of some world-leading airlines. Despite this, our overall experience with Delta One Suites was remarkable, making the 10-hour journey to Amsterdam feel like a breeze.
Final Thoughts
Delta One Suites, with their luxurious amenities, excellent dining, and spacious suites, have set a new standard for business class travel. Although there’s room for improvement in certain areas, the overall experience was highly positive, making our long-haul flight a pleasant and memorable journey. We can’t wait for our next Delta One experience!
